The National Health Authority has introduced the NHA Digital Academy, a comprehensive learning platform aimed at strengthening capacity building and developing a skilled workforce aligned with India’s expanding digital health ecosystem.
Designed as a collaborative initiative, the Academy brings together leading academic institutions, research organisations, and centres of excellence from India and abroad. It focuses on co-developing and delivering high-quality training programmes for a wide range of stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, administrators, and programme implementers.
At the launch, Dr Sunil Kumar Barnwal outlined key priorities, highlighting the importance of sustained capacity building through the Academy. He noted that the platform will play a vital role in standardising knowledge dissemination and strengthening programme implementation across states.
A key feature of the initiative is its web-based Learning Management System (LMS), which acts as a one-stop solution for training linked to Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. The platform enables authorised users to access e-learning modules, attend workshops, and participate in virtual training sessions, while also tracking individual progress against programme indicators.
The Academy offers flexible learning formats, including self-paced online courses with certification, live virtual classrooms for real-time engagement, and workshop modules that promote collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The launch took place during a two-day Chintan Shivir in Pune, where officials from the Centre and states reviewed the progress of key schemes such as AB PM-JAY and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
With the continued expansion of these flagship programmes, the demand for trained personnel is rising. The NHA Digital Academy is expected to help bridge skill gaps and ensure the healthcare workforce remains aligned with evolving technologies and policy developments.
