Kimberly-Clark India and UNICEF India have announced a collaboration to enhance menstrual and maternal health services across the country, marking International Women’s Day. The initiative will be rolled out in several states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Gujarat.
The partnership supports Kimberly-Clark’s global mission of “Better Care for a Better World.” Through this programme, the organisations aim to expand access to essential health services and empower women and girls with knowledge related to menstrual and maternal health. The initiative will also focus on community outreach and strengthening existing health systems.
The programme is expected to benefit around 2.88 million adolescent girls, women, and infants, while 2.87 million community members will be reached through awareness campaigns and behaviour-change programmes addressing menstrual hygiene, maternal health and early childhood development.
Under the initiative, the two organisations will work together to support national and state health systems, improve adolescent-friendly health services, and raise awareness so that girls and mothers can make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
Rahul Asthana said the partnership reflects Kimberly-Clark’s belief that health, dignity and opportunity should be accessible to everyone. He noted that by combining UNICEF’s strong community engagement with the company’s purpose-driven approach, the collaboration aims to deliver long-term benefits for families across India and contribute to a healthier and more equitable society.
Cynthia McCaffrey said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that every woman, girl and child has access to the care, knowledge and services they need to thrive. She added that focusing on menstrual health, maternal wellbeing and early childhood development together recognises the strong link between a girl’s health, a mother’s wellbeing and a child’s early growth and development.
