FUJIFILM India has dedicated the first Made-in-India EP-6000 Endoscopy System, carrying serial number 001, to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, marking a new milestone in domestic medical technology manufacturing.
The system was formally dedicated in the presence of Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, following a meeting with Koji Wada, Managing Director, FUJIFILM India.
The development comes after FUJIFILM India began endoscopy manufacturing in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, earlier this year. The EP-6000 is the company’s first Fujifilm endoscopy system manufactured in India through its contract manufacturing facility.
The installation at AIIMS New Delhi is expected to add to the institution’s existing diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities while highlighting the growing role of local manufacturing in India’s medical technology sector.
Prof Nikhil Tandon, Director, AIIMS New Delhi, said the installation reflects the institute’s focus on adopting advanced medical technologies and supporting clinical innovation. He noted that the system would contribute to the capabilities of an institution that provides healthcare services to patients at scale.
Prof Pramod Garg, Professor and Head, Department of Gastroenterology and Human Nutrition Unit, AIIMS New Delhi, also welcomed the establishment of endoscope manufacturing in India and said the new system would add to the department’s capabilities to serve patients.
According to Koji Wada, the milestone forms part of FUJIFILM India’s plans to expand its healthcare presence in the country and support healthcare providers through stronger diagnostic infrastructure.
The dedication of serial number 001 to AIIMS represents the company’s latest step in its India manufacturing programme and its stated commitment to the Government’s Make in India initiative.
