The Haryana Health Department has declared that the week of November 17 to November 22, 2025 will be observed as a “Surgical Camp Week” across all districts of the state. During this period, patients eligible under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) will be able to undergo free and cashless surgeries in government district hospitals.
Dr Mukta Kumar, Civil Surgeon of Panchkula district, explained that the aim of the campaign is two-fold: to help clear the backlog of surgical cases, and to strengthen awareness and accessibility of surgical services under the scheme. All government health institutions, including district hospitals and community/primary health centres have been instructed to participate.
The initiative specifically targets patients from economically weaker sections, offering them timely surgical care without out-of-pocket expenditure. Eligible beneficiaries should check their eligibility status at local civil hospitals or the help-desk set up under the AB-PMJAY scheme. This measure is particularly relevant for Gurugram district and adjoining areas in Haryana, where many people depend on government hospitals and scheme-based care.
