A major fire broke out at a private hospital in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district in the early hours of Thursday, claiming four lives and leaving over 20 patients injured. Thick smoke engulfed the building, triggering panic among patients and attendants. Firefighters rescued several patients, including those admitted to the ICU, and shifted critically ill individuals to nearby hospitals. District Magistrate Subrat Kumar Sen said an investigation is underway, with a suspected short circuit believed to be the cause of the blaze.
ICU Filled with Smoke as Firefighters Launch Rescue Operation
According to fire officials, the blaze was reported around 3 am, and nearly a dozen fire tenders were rushed to the hospital. Rescue teams broke open doors and windows to evacuate patients trapped inside smoke-filled wards. Four fatalities have been confirmed, while authorities are verifying the status of all admitted patients. Relatives have alleged lapses by the hospital administration, claiming some staff members were absent during the emergency. Officials said a detailed probe has been ordered to determine the exact cause of the fire.
