The Uttar Pradesh government has expanded its collaboration with Wadhwani AI by outlining a roadmap to implement artificial intelligence solutions across public health programmes in the state.

The initiative will integrate AI tools into areas such as tuberculosis care, telemedicine, maternal and child health, eye screening, and support for frontline health workers. In the initial phase, seven AI-powered solutions will be deployed, with Wadhwani AI acting as the technical partner. The effort is part of the state’s broader UP AI Mission, a three-year programme focused on building an AI ecosystem across governance, healthcare, and agriculture.

In tuberculosis care, tools like Cough Against TB (CATB) will support early detection by analysing cough sounds, while Vulnerability Mapping for Tuberculosis (VMTB) will identify high-risk areas using geospatial data. The Prediction of Adverse TB Outcomes (PATO) tool will help identify patients at higher risk during treatment to enable targeted interventions.

For telemedicine, the Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) will assist clinicians with structured data and AI-based diagnostic inputs. Health Vaani, a voice and text-based assistant, will help frontline workers access government health guidelines.

Additional tools include MadhuNetrAI for detecting diabetic retinopathy through retinal imaging and Shishu Maapan, a smartphone-based solution for measuring newborns during home visits to identify those at risk.

The partnership builds on Wadhwani AI’s existing work across India, where its technology solutions are already being used across multiple sectors, including health, agriculture, and education.
