Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the leading state in procurement through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM), with total purchases reaching ₹22,337 crore in the financial year 2025-26. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the performance and praised the state’s procurement policy for improving transparency and efficiency.
He noted that the GeM Procurement Policy 2024 has reinforced integrity, inclusiveness, and accountability in government buying. The policy has also received recognition from the Centre and is being projected as a model for other states to follow.
Officials highlighted that the platform’s reverse auction system helped the state save over ₹9,700 crore. Participation from micro and small enterprises increased significantly, with their share rising from 43% to 55%, driven largely by local MSMEs.
The procurement process also saw greater inclusion, with participation rising among women entrepreneurs (44%), SC/ST entrepreneurs (48%), and startups (50%). Additionally, complaints related to procurement dropped by more than 80%, reflecting improved transparency.
Overall, Uttar Pradesh buyers secured business worth ₹42,648 crore through the portal. The Chief Minister has now directed all departments to make GeM usage mandatory, integrate it with the state treasury, and establish a permanent procurement committee to further streamline operations.
