The Uttar Pradesh Health Department is set to make medical test reports available directly on patients’ mobile phones, removing the hassle of collecting them in person. The system, which has already been launched in hospitals across Lucknow, is now being expanded statewide.
Under this initiative, reports will be sent through SMS, WhatsApp, and also uploaded to the Personal Health Record (PHR) portal. To make this possible, Hospital Management Information Systems (HIMS) in district hospitals and community health centres are being linked with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
Aligned with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, patients will be able to view or download their reports directly from the PHR portal or mobile app. Once a report is generated, the patient will receive an SMS on their registered number containing a link to access it.
Ritu Maheshwari, Secretary of the Health Department, added that doctors treating admitted patients will also receive these reports directly through the hospital’s information system. The move is expected to enhance convenience for patients and make healthcare services more efficient across the state.
