The Uttar Pradesh government is considering the development of a large integrated medical hub in Jewar, aimed at strengthening healthcare infrastructure and positioning the state as a key destination for medical value tourism (MVT). The proposed project is expected to receive support from the World Bank, which has already prepared a preliminary project report.
According to officials, representatives from the World Bank are expected to present the project’s framework before Chief Secretary SP Goyal in the coming weeks. The presentation, initially scheduled earlier, is likely to be rescheduled soon, after which the proposal may advance to the next stage of planning and approvals.
The initiative aligns with the Union Budget 2026-27 announcement that encourages states to establish regional medical hubs through public-private partnerships. These hubs are envisioned as comprehensive healthcare ecosystems that combine patient care, medical education, research, diagnostics and rehabilitation services within a single integrated campus.
Officials indicated that the proposed Jewar medical hub could include advanced hospitals, AYUSH wellness centres, medical tourism facilitation services, diagnostic facilities, rehabilitation units and post-treatment care centres. The project is expected to improve access to specialized healthcare services while creating significant employment opportunities for doctors, nurses, technicians and other healthcare professionals.
Strategically located near the upcoming Noida International Airport, Jewar has rapidly emerged as a major infrastructure and investment corridor. The region’s connectivity through expressways, logistics networks and aviation infrastructure is expected to support the medical hub’s objective of attracting both domestic and international patients.
The proposed facility is also expected to complement Uttar Pradesh’s broader efforts to expand healthcare investments, strengthen medical infrastructure and enhance its presence in the growing global medical tourism market.
