Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel inaugurated Lapetos Healthcare Super Speciality Hospital in the Awadh Vihar Yojana area of Lucknow, calling for affordable, transparent and patient-centric healthcare services, particularly for economically weaker sections of society.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Patel highlighted the responsibility of healthcare institutions to extend medical services beyond commercial operations and contribute to public welfare.
According to a statement issued by Jan Bhavan, the Governor appreciated the hospital’s commitment to social service and stressed that healthcare institutions must prioritise ethical medical practices, quality treatment and patient trust.
Governor Calls for Transparency and Ethical Medical Practices
Patel emphasised the importance of maintaining transparency in healthcare delivery and ensuring the quality of medicines. She called for effective measures to identify and prevent the circulation of counterfeit medicines.
She also urged doctors to focus on accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment while avoiding unnecessary diagnostic tests, prescriptions and medical expenses that could place additional financial pressure on patients.
The Governor said ethical practices, sensitivity towards patients and transparency in medical services were essential to strengthening public confidence in healthcare institutions.
Private Hospitals Urged to Expand Free Healthcare Services
Highlighting the role of private healthcare providers in community development, Patel encouraged hospital management to organise free medical services for children from underprivileged families, particularly in rural areas.
Referring to a school she has adopted in Lucknow, she suggested that hospitals visit rural schools and extend healthcare support to students who may otherwise have limited access to medical facilities.
Governor Proposes CSR Initiatives Across Uttar Pradesh
Patel expressed her intention to convene a meeting of private hospitals and healthcare centres at Jan Bhavan to explore coordinated healthcare initiatives under corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.
She encouraged healthcare institutions to consider adopting villages and providing free medical assistance to children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Governor also highlighted the importance of protecting animal life alongside human life, calling for greater compassion and responsibility in healthcare and society.
The inauguration brought attention to the role of private hospitals in improving healthcare accessibility and supporting underserved communities across Uttar Pradesh.
