Tata AIG Health Insurance has become the third insurer to halt cashless claim settlement at Max Hospitals, following Star Health and Niva Bupa. While Star Health and Niva Bupa’s suspension covers all 22 Max Hospitals nationwide, CARE Health Insurance policyholders are affected only at Max Hospitals in Delhi-NCR.
Max Healthcare confirmed that Tata AIG suspended cashless services from September 10, 2025. The move came after Tata AIG sought an unexpected downward revision of tariffs, despite a previously agreed two-year tariff arrangement valid from January 16, 2025, to January 15, 2027. “When Max did not accept the unilateral reduction, cashless services were suspended,” a hospital spokesperson said.
Max has set up an express desk to help patients claim reimbursements without upfront payments. While no resolution has been reached yet with Tata AIG, sources indicate discussions are ongoing and could be resolved in a few days. Tata AIG stated it has put in place special arrangements to ensure policyholders face no inconvenience, with all claims being fast-tracked.
Regarding Niva Bupa, Max highlighted that despite the contract expiring in May 2025, the hospital continued cashless services. However, further tariff reduction demands from Niva Bupa were deemed unviable by Max, citing potential risks to patient safety and care quality.
