Around 650 private hospitals in Haryana plan to withdraw from the Ayushman Bharat scheme from August 7 due to unpaid dues of ₹500 crore, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) warned. Hospitals say they’ve received only 10–15% of their claims since March, leaving many cash-strapped and unable to continue offering free treatment.

IMA Haryana president Dr Mahavir Jain called the situation a “chronic breakdown,” saying hospitals are at a financial breaking point. Despite repeated requests, state Ayushman Bharat officials haven’t responded.

Major hospitals in Gurgaon, including Park Hospital and Centre for Sight, will stop new admissions under the scheme but continue emergency care. The withdrawal could severely affect thousands of low-income patients across the state.
