Premji Invest has announced a strategic investment in NewEra Hospitals to support the expansion of advanced healthcare services and strengthen hospital infrastructure across Maharashtra. The investment is expected to significantly enhance access to quality quaternary care particularly in underserved regions such as Nagpur.
Founded in 2016 by doctors Anand Sancheti, Nilesh Agrawal and Nidheesh Mishra, NewEra Hospitals currently operates three hospitals across Nagpur and Navi Mumbai with a combined capacity of nearly 350 beds. With the fresh capital infusion the hospital chain plans to launch three additional hospitals in Nagpur and increase its total capacity to around 800 beds.
The expansion aims to strengthen access to high-complexity medical care, including neurosciences, organ transplantation, cardiology and other advanced specialties. Healthcare experts believe the move could help bridge infrastructure gaps in regional healthcare delivery systems where demand for quality tertiary and quaternary care continues to rise.
Speaking on the development, Prakash Chellam, Partner and Head of Healthcare and Life Sciences at Premji Invest highlighted the need for stronger hospital infrastructure and higher bed density in cities like Nagpur. He noted that NewEra Hospitals has built strong clinical credibility and patient trust in the region. The founders of NewEra Hospitals stated that the partnership would enable the organization to scale faster and make advanced healthcare services more accessible beyond major metropolitan cities. The hospital platform currently works with over 250 doctors and consultants across more than 30 specialties.
Industry observers view the investment as part of a broader trend of increasing investor interest in India’s healthcare infrastructure sector particularly in regional hospital networks focused on specialized and high-quality care.
