Prime Minister Narendra Modi e-inaugurated a medical device park spread over 336 acres at Nagalpar in Rajkot. The inauguration took place during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for Kutch and Saurashtra.

At the event, the Prime Minister also announced the development of 13 new smart industrial estates covering a total of 3,340 acres across seven districts Savarkundla (Amreli), Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Kutch, Morbi, Rajkot, and Surendranagar by the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC).

The Rajkot medical device park is designed as an integrated ecosystem to support the full value chain of medical device manufacturing, including research, product development, testing, manufacturing, and exports. The facility aims to support the growth of India’s medical device sector by providing plug-and-play infrastructure and sector-specific facilities.

The Nagalpar site has been chosen for its connectivity to transport and logistics infrastructure. It is located near key ports such as Pipavav (125 km), Kandla (198 km), and Mundra (243 km). Rajkot Airport connects the region to major cities including Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru, while National Highway-27, located around 9 km from the site, links it to Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Delhi.

Planned infrastructure at the park includes a water supply system with a proposed capacity of 3.5 million litres per day, solid waste management facilities, a sewage treatment plant, and land allocated for a 66 KV power substation. A common warehouse and logistics centre is also proposed to support supply chain requirements.

During his address, the Prime Minister highlighted the diverse economic strengths of different regions of Gujarat, including its coastline, tribal regions, industrial clusters, and agricultural base. He also referred to India’s economic indicators, noting the country’s position in areas such as milk production, generic medicines, vaccines, mobile phone manufacturing, digital payments through UPI, startup activity, and capacity in solar power and metro rail networks.
