OPD Services Restored at Lucknow’s  Lok Bandhu Hospital

Outpatient Department (OPD) services at Lok Bandhu Hospital in Lucknow resumed ,following a fire that broke out on Monday night, impacting three hospital wards, including the ICU.In response to the incident, all patients were swiftly evacuated and transferred to nearby medical facilities. Among them, 24 patients were moved to Civil Hospital, where two required ICU admission. Unfortunately, one patient passed away en route and has been sent for postmortem examination.

Civil Hospital Director Dr. Rajesh Srivastava confirmed that all transferred patients are in stable condition. “Two patients in serious condition have been admitted to the ICU, while the others are receiving treatment and are stable. The deceased patient is being examined to determine the cause of death,” he said.

Chief Fire Officer Mangesh Kumar stated that the department received the fire alert at 9:44 p.m. on Monday, after which emergency teams were immediately dispatched. “Our team evacuated all individuals safely. The cause of the fire is still under investigation,” he said.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak announced the formation of a high-level committee to probe the incident. He also noted that a mock drill conducted just 1.5 months ago had prepared the staff well, contributing to the effective evacuation. “I thank the hospital team and the fire department for their timely action. Lives were saved due to their readiness,” he said.

Pathak added that approximately 200 patients were safely moved out of the hospital and no major casualties have been reported so far. Investigations into the exact cause of the fire are currently underway.
