Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, announced the launch of the India-America Health Alliance during the 44th Annual Convention and Scientific Assembly of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), held on July 2, 2026, in Tampa, Florida. The convention, which also marked the 250th anniversary of the United States’ Independence, brought together leading physicians and healthcare professionals from across the world.
At the event, Ambani was honoured with the AAPI Humanitarian Award 2026 for her longstanding humanitarian contributions through the Reliance Foundation. She was also presented with the Key to the City by Tampa Mayor Jane Castor in recognition of her significant social impact.
The award was conferred by Convention Chairman Dr. Sagar Galwankar, AAPI President Dr. Amit Chakrabarty, and Convention Convener Dr. Raghu Juvvadi. Through the Reliance Foundation, Ambani has led initiatives across healthcare, education, rural development, women’s empowerment, environmental conservation, arts and culture, disaster relief, sports, and animal welfare, benefiting millions of people across India.
During her keynote address, Ambani introduced the India-America Health Alliance, a strategic collaboration between the Reliance Foundation and AAPI aimed at strengthening healthcare cooperation between India and the United States.
Highlighting the vision behind the initiative, she said, “Medicine, at its best, has no borders.”
The alliance will focus on three key areas:
- Expanding Healthcare Access: Using Jio’s 5G network, AAPI specialists based in the United States will offer telemedicine consultations to patients in rural and underserved regions of India, improving access to specialised healthcare services.
- Building Healthcare Capacity: The partnership will support the training of first responders and healthcare professionals through advanced clinical education, artificial intelligence-enabled learning, and real-time mentorship from AAPI physicians.
- Promoting Medical Research: The initiative aims to produce up to 500 peer-reviewed research publications over the next decade, encouraging collaborative scientific research that benefits communities in both countries.
Together, these initiatives are intended to improve healthcare accessibility, strengthen medical education, enhance frontline healthcare capabilities, and promote joint research between India and the United States.
The announcement received a standing ovation from delegates, reflecting strong support for the newly launched India-America Health Alliance.
