The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) has launched the MITRA Empanelment Programme (MEP), an initiative to register individuals and organizations called MITRAs who will support hospitals in achieving NABH accreditation, certification, and digital health adoption.
The programme is especially aimed at helping hospitals in smaller towns and cities find reliable, ethical, and qualified support partners. By empanelling such professionals and organizations, NABH seeks to bring greater transparency, credibility, and uniformity to the consulting and digital transformation ecosystem. Ultimately, this initiative is designed to strengthen healthcare facilities in Tier 2, 3, and 4 cities by connecting them with trained and verified MITRAs.
About the MITRA Programme

A MITRA is a trained individual or organization that assists hospitals in aligning with NABH standards and implementing digital health practices. The word MITRA means “trusted companion or partner.” - Programme Objective
The scheme addresses the largely unregulated support service sector for hospitals by formally recognizing competent and ethical MITRAs. - Role of MITRAs

All empanelled MITRAs must adhere to the NABH Code of Conduct and fulfill reporting requirements. - Disclaimer
NABH empanelment does not imply endorsement of services or financial partnership. MITRAs will simply be listed on the NABH website with their credentials and service offerings. - Restrictions
The empanelled status cannot be franchised or subcontracted. NABH reserves the right to accept or reject applications as per its requirements.
Who Can Apply?
Organizational MITRAs
- Must be a registered legal entity (Company, LLP, Trust, Society, or Proprietorship).
- Should have been operational for at least 1 year.
- Must have successfully supported at least 3 hospitals in completing accreditation/certification.
- Must employ at least 2 NABH-certified professionals (current assessors are not eligible).
Individual MITRAs
- Must be a qualified professional with experience in at least 1 successful accreditation/certification project.
- Must themselves be an NABH-certified professional (current assessors are not eligible).
Applicants must also meet detailed criteria relating to educational background, experience, training, and infrastructure.
