A mysterious fever outbreak has claimed 10 lives in Uttarakhand’s Almora and Haridwar districts over the past two weeks, prompting an investigation by health authorities. Most deaths occurred in Dhauladevi block of Almora (7 deaths) and Roorkee (3 deaths).

Patients reportedly showed high fever and low platelet counts symptoms resembling dengue or viral infections but officials say lab results are awaited to confirm the cause. Almora CMO Dr. Naveen Chandra Tiwari said only some deaths appear infection-related, while others may involve age-related complications.

Health teams have been deployed in affected areas, though officials suggest the surge could be due to “seasonal viral” infections triggered by changing weather.

About Viral Fever:
Viral fever is a common illness caused by viral infections, leading to high temperature, fatigue, headache, and body aches. Most cases resolve with rest, fluids, and basic medication, but medical help is advised for persistent or severe symptoms. Elderly people, young children, and those with chronic illnesses or weak immunity are more vulnerable.
