Moopen family buys more shares in Aster DM for 350 Crores

CHENNAI | Dr. Azad Moopen and his family have purchased an additional stake in Aster DM for Rs 350.34 Crores. The acquisition has increased their stake in the company to 24.58 percent.

Moopen Family has acquired 46.09 lakh shares Rs 760 apiece for Rs 350.34 crore. This translates into around 0.57 percent of the company’s equity capital. The acquisition has raised the family’s stake to 24.58 percent. The shares were acquired on September 2, 2026 for a total consideration of about Rs 350.34 crore.

The latest purchase has followed the merger of Aster DM Healthcare and Quality Care India. The new arrangement had brought CARE Hospitals, Evercare and KIMSHEALTH together to work as one entity that now operates 39 hospitals in 28 cities with over 10,890 beds.

Recently, Aster DM had announced that KIMS Health Care Management Ltd. will invest Rs 134 crore on expansion of its hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. The expansion is aimed at adding 184 beds to the existing 795-bed hospital. The management is aiming at making all beds operations by May 2028.

The Bengaluru-based healthcare company has a significant presence in south and central India. It had also acquired a 14.21% stake in Bangladesh-based STS Holdings for Rs 479 crore.
