A 550-bed Medanta Super Speciality Hospital was inaugurated in Noida’s Sector 50 on Thursday (November 27) by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who described the facility as a major addition to the region’s healthcare infrastructure.

According to an official statement, the hospital is expected to create employment opportunities and attract private investment in the state’s healthcare sector.

Speaking at the press interaction, the Chief Minister said Medanta has expanded its presence in Uttar Pradesh after its facilities in Gurgaon and Lucknow. He noted that the hospital in Lucknow played a significant role during the COVID-19 pandemic and added that the new Noida unit addresses a long-standing demand for advanced medical services in Western Uttar Pradesh.

Adityanath said that treatments for serious illnesses such as kidney disease, cancer, liver cirrhosis and cardiac conditions were previously financially burdensome for many families. He highlighted the coverage provided under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Ayushman Bharat, under which eligible individuals can access free treatment up to ₹5 lakh per year.

He added that Uttar Pradesh has extended the scope of these schemes and disbursed ₹1,300 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in the last year for medical assistance. The funds were used in empanelled hospitals across the state.

The Chief Minister said the government had amended certain regulations to facilitate the establishment of hospitals, including reducing the minimum road-width requirement for hospital construction from 18 metres to 7 metres. He said these changes aim to increase the number of healthcare facilities across districts.

According to him, approximately 10 crore people in the state are currently benefiting from the Ayushman Bharat scheme and the Chief Minister’s Jan Arogya Yojana.

He said the state government is collaborating with IIT Kanpur to set up a MedTech Centre of Excellence, with a focus on utilising technology and artificial intelligence to improve healthcare delivery. He also referred to the virtual ICU model introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is being used by facilities such as SGPGI Lucknow and Medanta Lucknow for remote care and training.

He also discussed the state’s efforts to control encephalitis in eastern Uttar Pradesh. He said that between 1977 and 2017, the region recorded a high number of child deaths annually, particularly during the monsoon season. A campaign launched in 2017 helped reduce the incidence significantly, and according to the Chief Minister, no encephalitis-related deaths are currently being reported in the area.

Calling the launch a major milestone for the organisation, Dr Naresh Trehan, Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta, said:
“The inauguration of Medanta Noida is a significant milestone in our mission to deliver world-class, patient-centric healthcare. This hospital brings advanced infrastructure and medical technology together under one roof, supported by skilled and experienced clinicians. With its strategic location and comprehensive capabilities, the facility will play a crucial role in expanding access to quality tertiary and quaternary care across Delhi-NCR and western Uttar Pradesh.”

He added that the facility reflects Medanta’s ethos: “Har Ek Jaan Anmol” (Every Life Is Invaluable).

Pankaj Sahni, Group CEO of Medanta, said the hospital addresses a longstanding gap in high-end medical services in the region.
“This launch represents Medanta’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery where demand is growing rapidly. Noida and the larger Western UP region have long required dependable, accessible, high-end healthcare. With its strong clinical team, advanced technology, and future-ready infrastructure, Medanta Noida is designed to set new benchmarks in patient outcomes and medical excellence,” he said.
