Manipal Hospitals is preparing for its next phase of expansion, with potential acquisitions in Telangana, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, while also strengthening its presence in other key healthcare markets. The hospital chain is simultaneously building a “physical plus digital” healthcare model, with Artificial Intelligence emerging as a major part of its technology strategy.

Acquisition Plans Across Key Markets

According to its FY26 annual report, Manipal Hospitals is evaluating inorganic growth opportunities in Telangana, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The group is also looking at acquisitions across Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa, including the Mumbai-Pune corridor, as well as West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand and Sikkim.

The company is pursuing a selective expansion strategy aimed at strengthening its presence in markets with long-term growth potential.

₹495 Crore Juhu Project

Mumbai remains an important part of Manipal’s expansion plans. The company has completed the acquisition of the remaining land and building for its upcoming greenfield hospital project in Juhu at a total consideration of ₹495 crore.

Of this amount, ₹130 crore is subject to the fulfilment of certain conditions.

AI Enters Hospital Operations

Technology is becoming increasingly central to Manipal Hospitals’ operations. The group is scaling a unified Hospital Information System to connect clinical, diagnostic and administrative workflows across its network.

AI-enabled nursing handovers have already been introduced across 24 hospitals. The company is also deploying wireless patient monitoring systems and AI-powered chat, voice and omnichannel assistants for call centre automation, appointment management and triage-related enquiries.

Focus on Complex Specialties

Manipal’s clinical strategy continues to focus on six major specialty clusters under its “CONGO-R” framework – cardiac sciences, oncology, neurosciences, gastro sciences, orthopedics and renal sciences.

Together, these specialties contributed 64.3% of the group’s gross inpatient revenue in FY26. The company is investing in robotic surgical systems, linear accelerators and PET-CT scanners to strengthen its advanced care capabilities.

Revenue Crosses ₹10,000 Crore

The expansion strategy comes after a strong financial year for the group. Revenue from operations rose 25.4% to ₹10,336 crore in FY26, while EBITDA stood at ₹2,644 crore.

The year also saw the integration of Sahyadri Hospitals in Maharashtra and Medica Synergie in Eastern India.

2,426 Beds Planned by 2030

Manipal Hospitals plans to add around 2,426 licensed beds by 2030. The expansion is expected to include 483 brownfield beds and 1,943 greenfield beds.

As of March 31, 2026, the network had 49 hospitals and 13,037 licensed beds across 14 states and Union Territories. It treated more than 76 lakh patients during FY26.

The group added more than 5,500 beds between FY21 and FY26, positioning it among India’s leading private hospital consolidators by bed additions.
