Manipal Hospitals has announced the acquisition of Sahyadri Hospitals in a deal valued at approximately Rs 6,300 crore, further expanding its footprint and marking one of the biggest consolidation moves in India’s private healthcare industry.

The acquisition adds 11 Sahyadri Hospitals in Maharashtra to Manipal Hospitals’ network, taking its total presence to 49 hospitals with nearly 12,000 beds across the country.

As part of the transaction, Manipal Hospitals will acquire Sahyadri Hospitals from the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board (OTPP), which became the majority stakeholder in the Pune-based hospital chain in 2022.

Sahyadri Hospitals is among Maharashtra’s prominent private healthcare providers, operating 11 hospitals with over 1,400 beds across Pune, Nashik, Ahilya Nagar, and Karad. The acquisition significantly strengthens Manipal Hospitals’ position in western India and expands its access to one of the country’s key healthcare markets.

The combined network is expected to improve the availability of advanced tertiary and quaternary healthcare services while enhancing patient access across both urban centres and regional cities in Maharashtra.

The acquisition is also expected to reinforce Manipal Hospitals’ market position as it prepares for a possible initial public offering (IPO). The larger network is likely to support future investments in specialised medical services, digital healthcare solutions, and integrated care delivery.

Supported by Singapore-based investment firm Temasek, Manipal Hospitals has consistently expanded through strategic acquisitions over the past few years, strengthening its presence across major healthcare markets in India.
