The Maharashtra Government Nurses Federation (MGNF) has demanded an independent investigation into alleged irregularities in the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) examination evaluation process in Solapur. The federation has warned of statewide protests if the government fails to take immediate action.

In a letter dated October 26, the federation approached Maharashtra Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif and Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar, raising concerns over allegations of answer sheet mishandling and possible manipulation of marks.

The federation stated that the examination affects the academic and professional future of approximately 10,000 to 15,000 nursing students, making transparency and accountability essential.

Federation Seeks High-Level Investigation

MGNF State President Indumati Thorat called for an independent, high-level inquiry committee to examine whether answer sheets were removed from college premises, whether marks were altered, and whether officials were involved in the alleged irregularities.

The federation has also demanded verification of CCTV footage, vehicle registration records, original evaluated answer sheets, and the roles of custodians, assistant custodians, and other responsible officials.

It further urged authorities to preserve all relevant evidence securely and cancel the examinations if irregularities are established. The federation also demanded that action taken against those found responsible be made public.

One-Hour Strike Planned for October 30

MGNF State General Secretary Vishal Sonar announced that the federation would organise a one-hour strike during the morning session on October 30, 2026, if the government fails to address its demands.

The federation has indicated that further protests may follow until appropriate action is taken.

The allegations remain subject to investigation, and the federation has called for measures to protect the credibility of the examination process and the interests of nursing students across Maharashtra.
