Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has invited global technology giant Amazon to expand its investments in the state, particularly in the sectors of healthcare infrastructure, data centres and artificial intelligence-driven skill development.

During a meeting with Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, the Chief Minister highlighted Maharashtra’s position as the country’s leading hub for data centres and emphasized the state’s commitment to creating a robust ecosystem to support their growth and expansion.

According to an official statement, Fadnavis said Maharashtra offers substantial opportunities in healthcare, technology infrastructure and AI-powered skilling initiatives, and encouraged Amazon to become a key partner in the state’s development journey.

The Chief Minister noted that Maharashtra aims to grow its economy from the current estimated USD 660 billion to USD 1 trillion by 2030 and has already achieved more than half of this target. He also informed Jassy that the state government is increasingly integrating artificial intelligence into public service delivery and developing AI-enabled solutions across sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, infrastructure and education.

Highlighting the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on employment, Fadnavis stressed the importance of skill development programmes aligned with emerging technologies. He expressed the state’s interest in collaborating with Amazon to develop AI-focused training programmes, particularly for Maharashtra’s strong micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector.

The Chief Minister also pointed out that Maharashtra was the first state in India to introduce a public cloud policy and has previously partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) on several public cloud initiatives. He further noted that the state has implemented a dedicated data centre policy promoting green data centres through renewable energy adoption and investment incentives.

Fadnavis also showcased investment opportunities in the upcoming Medicity project in Navi Mumbai, which is being developed as an integrated healthcare ecosystem aimed at strengthening the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
