Union Health Minister JP Nadda on Thursday (December 4) met Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in the health sector.
According to the Ministry of Health, the meeting focused on priority areas in healthcare, with both sides reiterating their commitment to advancing accessible, affordable and quality health services. The Ministry shared details of the meeting in a post on X.
The talks took place as Russian President Vladimir Putin began his two-day State visit to India his first trip to the country since the Russia-Ukraine war began in 2022.
Earlier in the day, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held discussions with his Russian counterpart Andrei Belousov as they co-chaired the 22nd India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation in New Delhi. The Defence Ministry said the ministers reviewed the full spectrum of defence ties and exchanged views on regional and global developments.
On Friday, Putin will receive a ceremonial welcome before holding formal talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Both leaders are expected to address the media after the meeting. Putin will also lay a wreath at the Mahatma Gandhi memorial.
Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov said the leaders will discuss key aspects of bilateral relations, the international situation, and expanding trade and economic cooperation. Several agreements are expected to be signed during the visit, including one aimed at facilitating the movement of Indian workers to Russia.
