J&K Government Calls for Acceleration of AIIMS Awantipora Construction

On June 4, Jammu and Kashmir’s Minister for Health, Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo, conducted a site inspection of the ongoing construction work at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Awantipora, Kashmir.

During the visit, the Minister thoroughly reviewed the progress and quality of work on this key healthcare infrastructure project. She engaged with engineers and project officials, expressing concern over the delays that have been reported and stressing the urgency of completing the remaining work within the designated timeframe.

Minister Sakeena underscored the importance of AIIMS Awantipora, describing it as a transformative initiative that promises to bring cutting-edge healthcare services closer to the people of Kashmir.

“This is more than just a building project it’s a symbol of hope and a crucial step toward delivering advanced medical care in the region. Any delay in its completion means delaying much-needed services for our citizens,” she said.

She called on the executing agencies to address any obstacles immediately and to intensify efforts working around the clock if necessary to ensure the project is completed on schedule.

The Minister also directed the implementing agency to submit regular progress updates and maintain high standards of quality and safety throughout the construction process.

Accompanying the Minister were MLA Pampore, Justice (Retd.) Hasnain Masoodi, MLA Rajpora, Ghulam Mohi Uddin Mir, the Director of Health, Ayush and Family Welfare, along with officials from the executing agency, senior district administrators, and other relevant officers.
