Max Hospital, Saket, a Centre of Excellence for Hemodiafiltration (HDF), recently conducted India’s first certification workshop for nephrologists focused on HDF therapy. The programme aimed to provide healthcare professionals with knowledge and skills to adopt advanced dialysis techniques and improve patient care.
The one-day training included theoretical sessions, hands-on demonstrations, and case-based learning tailored for nephrologists. Over 50 participants attended and also visited Max Hospital’s dialysis unit, where they experienced HDF-enabled machines, a medical-grade water treatment system, and a central delivery system.
Dr. Dinesh Khullar, Chairman Nephrology & Renal Transplant Medicine at Max Hospital, Saket, said, “This programme is designed by clinicians, for clinicians, to advance kidney care through shared knowledge and practical learning.”
HDF therapy has been associated with better clearance of toxins and improved patient outcomes. Studies indicate that patients treated with HDF have a 23% higher survival rate compared to those on standard high-flux hemodialysis, along with improved quality of life.
The completion of this workshop marks a step forward in professional training in nephrology. Based on the positive response from attendees, Max Hospital plans to continue similar programmes under its Centre of Excellence to support learning and collaboration in kidney care.
