India has dispatched 300,000 doses of Measles and Rubella vaccines along with medical supplies to Bolivia, which is battling a growing measles outbreak. Bolivia has declared a National Health Emergency after 60 confirmed cases, aiming to curb the spread through mass vaccination.
Bolivian President Luis Arce Catacora urged public cooperation to protect children, while Health Minister Maria Renee Castro highlighted falling vaccination rates and COVID-related disruptions as key factors behind the resurgence.
On the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Rio, PM Narendra Modi met President Arce to review bilateral ties and explore cooperation in trade, health, critical minerals, and capacity building. Modi also expressed solidarity over recent floods in Bolivia and congratulated the nation on its upcoming bicentennial.
