India’s Ministry of Ayush has signed an agreement with the World Health Organization (WHO) to develop a Traditional Medicine module under the International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI). This move aims to standardize therapies from Ayurveda, Yoga, Siddha, and Unani systems globally.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the agreement in his Mann Ki Baat address, calling it a major step toward promoting Ayush scientifically worldwide. The new module will help ensure fair pricing, insurance coverage, better clinical documentation, and global accessibility for Ayush treatments.

WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros welcomed India’s $3 million contribution, calling it a vital step toward integrating traditional medicine into global healthcare systems.

This collaboration marks a significant move toward making India’s traditional health systems an evidence-based part of global medical practice.
