Indian High Commissioner to Kenya, Adarsh Swaika, recently held meetings with senior Kenyan ministers to review ongoing partnerships and identify new opportunities aimed at boosting affordable healthcare and accelerating digital transformation.

During these interactions, both sides expressed shared interest in enhancing cooperation in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, capacity building, digital innovation, and technology-driven growth. According to reports, India and Kenya convened several high-level discussions this week to reinforce joint efforts in the healthcare and technology sectors.

The talks on health collaboration took place when Swaika met Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Health, Aden Duale. The envoy highlighted that the discussions focused on expanding joint work in pharmaceutical production, medical equipment, medical devices, and training of healthcare professionals. India, he noted, continues to be a “reliable and long-standing partner” for Kenya in the medical and pharmaceutical fields.

The Indian Mission also pointed out that thousands of Kenyans visit India each year for medical treatment, drawn by advanced healthcare facilities, specialized expertise, and more affordable costs.

In addition, the High Commissioner met Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, William Kabogo, to review progress on current projects and explore new proposals for deeper collaboration in ICT, emerging technologies, digital skill development, and innovation.

The meeting also emphasized stronger linkages between startups and tech ecosystems in both countries. Kabogo stated that the discussion reaffirmed the importance of broadening technology partnerships to accelerate Kenya’s digital transformation, including modernizing the national broadcaster KBC and strengthening ICT infrastructure.
