India has dispatched a team of expert doctors, nurses, and specialized medical equipment to Dhaka to assist in the treatment of those injured in the recent fighter jet crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara.
At least 31 people were killed in the deadly crash, mostly children, in Dhaka. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences on X on July 21, stating that India stands with Bangladesh in this crisis and is prepared to provide all necessary support.
The crash of a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft into Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Uttara on Monday has left the community in shock. The tragedy claimed 31 lives- 16 at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), 10 at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, and the rest across other hospitals. More than 165 people suffered injuries, many with critical burns, as emergency medical teams were swiftly deployed to provide aid.
The move comes after discussions between the foreign ministers of both countries, source confirmed to BBC Bangla.
A senior Indian Foreign Ministry official in Delhi said that two doctors, with years of experience working in burn units, along with a small team of nurses, have arrived in Dhaka on July 22.
The medical team will bring essential medical equipment, with more doctors to be sent as required.
In the house following the tragic incident, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri reached out to his Bangladeshi counterpart, offering India’s full support for any assistance needed.
