A special Indian Air Force aircraft transported two portable field hospital systems to Sri Lanka on November 30, along with essential medicines, medical equipment, and a contingent of Indian military doctors. The aircraft, a C-130 cargo plane, landed at Katunayake Airport at 8:00 am after departing from New Delhi.

Both the hospital units and the accompanying medical supplies have been fully produced in India. The mobile hospitals come equipped with surgical facilities, laboratory testing capabilities, and x-ray services. A team of five Indian military doctors has been deployed to train Sri Lankan medical professionals on operating and managing these systems.

Once the training is completed, operational responsibilities will be formally transferred to the local healthcare staff, and the Indian team will return home.

Senior officials from Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health, including Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena, along with representatives from the Indian High Commission and the Sri Lanka Air Force, were present at the airport to receive the team and equipment.
