India and Nepal have agreed to strengthen collaboration in the healthcare sector following talks between Union Health Minister JP Nadda and his Nepalese counterpart.
The discussions focused on enhancing capacity building, ensuring the supply of essential medicines and vaccines, and expanding cooperation in public health and health infrastructure.
In a post on X, Nadda said he held a “productive and forward-looking” meeting with the Minister of Health and Population of Nepal, reaffirming the longstanding partnership between the two countries in healthcare.
He added that deliberations covered key areas such as disease surveillance, digital health initiatives, regulatory cooperation, and capacity development. These measures, he noted, reflect the shared commitment of India and Nepal to building resilient, people-centric health systems in line with India’s Neighbourhood First Policy.
Separately, a roundtable discussion titled “India-Nepal Cooperation in New Technology & Startups” was held on Wednesday in Janakpur. The event was organised by the PHDCCI India-Nepal Centre in collaboration with the Consulate General of India and co-organised by the Nepal Young Entrepreneurs’ Forum (Birgunj and Janakpur chapters).
The programme facilitated meaningful discussions on startups and youth entrepreneurship, with the aim of accelerating bilateral cooperation in technology-driven priority sectors.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker Devi Sahai Meena, Consul General of India in Birgunj, said the roundtable would help align Nepal’s emerging businesses with their Indian counterparts while exploring ways India’s technological strengths could support Nepalese enterprises.
Highlighting India’s growth trajectory, Meena said the country is among the world’s fastest-growing economies and has made notable advancements in technology and startups. He noted that India is now recognised as a global IT hub and ranks third globally in terms of encouraging startups.
