The Indian Medical Association – Medical Students’ Network (IMA MSN), the national representative body of undergraduate medical students in India, has voiced serious concern regarding the uncertainty, alleged irregularities, administrative challenges and growing distress surrounding the conduct of NEET-UG 2026.
Calling NEET-UG a crucial foundation for the future of India’s Medical Fraternity, IMA MSN emphasized that lakhs of students invest years of hard work, emotional sacrifice and financial resources to pursue a career in medicine. Therefore, the examination’s credibility, transparency, fairness, and integrity are of national importance.
According to the organization, recent developments linked to NEET-UG 2026 have triggered widespread anxiety and confusion among aspirants and their families. Students already face immense academic and emotional pressure and any ambiguity, lack of transparent communication, or compromise in the examination process further intensifies psychological stress and weakens confidence in the system.
IMA MSN stated that the future of students should never be affected by procedural lapses, governance failures, or circumstances that undermine the sanctity of the examination. It stressed the need for a transparent, accountable, student-centric, and ethically managed admission system to preserve public trust in medical education and ensure justice for deserving candidates.
As the voice of undergraduate medical students across the country, IMA MSN said it is its responsibility to highlight student concerns and advocate for fair and responsible action in the interest of the medical student community and India’s future healthcare system.
The organization has urged the National Testing Agency, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, and the Government of India to take immediate, transparent, and decisive steps to safeguard student interests and restore confidence in the NEET-UG examination process.
Key Concerns and Recommendations by IMA MSN
- Transparent Communication: Authorities should immediately provide clear and detailed information regarding the present status of NEET-UG 2026 and future actions to prevent panic, misinformation, and confusion among students and parents.
- Student Welfare and Mental Health: The organization stressed that the mental well-being, academic interests, and future careers of students must remain the top priority during decision-making.
- Fairness and Merit-Based Admissions: IMA MSN reiterated that merit and fairness should remain central to medical admissions, with strict safeguards to ensure a secure, unbiased, and corruption-free examination system.
- Investigation and Accountability: Any alleged paper leak, malpractice, security breach, or administrative negligence affecting the credibility of the examination must be thoroughly investigated, with strict action taken against those responsible.
- Student-Centric Decisions: The organization emphasized that decisions affecting lakhs of aspirants should be made with sensitivity and should include consideration of student concerns and academic stakeholder feedback.
IMA MSN also expressed solidarity with every NEET aspirant who has dedicated years of effort and perseverance to pursue the medical profession and reaffirmed its commitment to academic justice, ethical medical education, transparency in examinations, and the welfare of medical students across India.
