Haryana has been allocated two new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) as part of the Union government’s initiative to establish 23 AIIMS across the country, Union Health Minister JP Nadda announced. The move is aimed at strengthening tertiary healthcare services, expanding medical education, and improving access to advanced treatment facilities.

Addressing a gathering organized by the Indian Medical Association in Ambala City, Nadda said the allocation reflects the Centre’s continued emphasis on enhancing Haryana’s healthcare infrastructure. He noted that the proposed AIIMS institutions will support the state’s ongoing efforts to expand medical education and develop specialized healthcare facilities.

The minister stated that the nationwide AIIMS expansion is intended to improve the availability of quality, affordable tertiary healthcare while creating additional opportunities for medical training in regions requiring stronger healthcare infrastructure.

Although the Centre has not officially confirmed the locations, Rewari and Jhajjar are considered likely sites. The two districts already house major central healthcare institutions, including the AIIMS project at Manethi and the National Cancer Institute. An official announcement regarding the final locations is yet to be made.
