The Haryana government has approved a new policy enabling the establishment of nursing homes in plotted residential colonies across the state, with the aim of improving access to healthcare in fast-growing residential areas.
The decision was taken at a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The policy is designed to bridge healthcare gaps by ensuring basic medical facilities are available closer to where people live. It permits nursing homes to operate on residential plots owned by eligible allopathic and AYUSH doctors.
Applicants will be required to submit proof of registration with the Medical Council or the AYUSH Council, along with membership details of the Indian Medical Association, and an affidavit as part of the approval process.
To regulate development, the number of nursing homes has been capped at four per sector. The policy also lays down minimum plot size norms based on zone potential, with fees fixed accordingly. No additional charges, including External Development Charges, will be applicable. The initiative is expected to significantly strengthen local healthcare infrastructure in Haryana’s residential sectors.
