Dr. M Srinivas, Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, is expected to be appointed as a member of NITI Aayog, succeeding Dr. VK Paul.
Appointed as AIIMS Delhi Director on September 22, 2022, Dr. Srinivas previously served as Dean at ESIC Hospital and Medical College, Hyderabad.
Following his likely move, AIIMS Delhi may function under an acting director for a few months until a permanent replacement is finalized. Dr. Nikhil Tandon, currently Professor and Head of the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at AIIMS, is among the leading contenders for the post.
The new NITI Aayog team is also set to include senior economist Dr. Ashok Lahiri as Vice Chairperson and noted scientist Dr Gobardhan Das as a Member.
Dr. Lahiri, with over four decades of experience, has held key positions including Chief Economic Adviser and roles in the Finance Commission, Asian Development Bank, World Bank, and the IMF.
Dr. Das is a renowned molecular science expert with nearly three decades of work in immunology, infectious diseases, and cell biology.
