Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital in Powai, Mumbai, has received the LEED v4.1 O+M: Existing Buildings Platinum certification from the US Green Building Council, making it one of the few healthcare facilities in India to achieve the highest level of recognition for sustainable operations.

The 13-storey, 310,110 sq. ft. super-specialty hospital has adopted a range of measures including rainwater harvesting, energy-efficient lighting, advanced HVAC systems, in-house organic waste conversion, and responsible biomedical waste management. It has also introduced rooftop solar installations and a smart energy optimisation system in collaboration with Tata Power Trading Company Ltd.

Sustainability has long been integral to our vision. Patient care and environmental care go hand in hand, said Dr Sameer Kulkarni, CEO of the hospital.

Congratulating the institution, Gopalakrishnan Padmanabhan, Managing Director for Southeast Asia, Middle East & India at the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), said the achievement demonstrates how data-driven innovation and disciplined operations can help hospitals reduce their environmental footprint while maintaining quality of care.
