Dr. Chandrashekhar Meshram appointed as President of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bibinagar, Hyderabad, by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Also, the World Federation of Neurology (WFN) has extended its congratulations.
A Padma Shri awardee one of India’s highest civilian honors Dr. Meshram has long been recognized for his dedication to brain health. In his new position, Dr. Meshram will act as an important link between the Health Ministry and AIIMS Bibinagar. His mandate includes strengthening the institute’s role in healthcare and advancing both national and international neurology advocacy. A key focus of his leadership will be promoting the Intersectoral Global Action Plan (IGAP) on epilepsy and other neurological disorders in India.
Within the WFN, he has served as Trustee, chaired the Tropical and Geographical Neurology Specialty Group for two terms, contributed as an Associate of eNeurologicalSci, and taken on several other leadership roles. He has also been instrumental in driving WFN’s advocacy efforts in India, particularly through initiatives like the World Brain Day campaigns.
