The Delhi government will soon introduce 20 advanced ambulances dedicated to geriatric care, aimed at improving emergency services for senior citizens. Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh announced on April 15 that these ambulances will be specially designed for elderly patients and equipped with modern medical facilities to ensure faster and more efficient response.

These ambulances will be linked to a centralised control room through the 102 helpline and integrated with the 112 Emergency Response Support System (ERSS). With their addition, the city’s total ambulance fleet will rise to 351, significantly strengthening emergency response capacity.

The government also plans a phased expansion of the fleet to 1,000 ambulances to build a more robust emergency network. Singh stressed that ensuring timely and dignified healthcare for senior citizens remains a top priority, reflecting the government’s focus on inclusive and responsive healthcare services.

He further noted that the ambulance expansion will be supported by ongoing efforts to upgrade hospital infrastructure and critical care facilities under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Backed by a healthcare budget of ₹13,034 crore, the initiative is part of a broader push to improve accessibility, efficiency, and patient-centric care, with a strong emphasis on the well-being of the elderly.
