Centre sanctions ₹33,081 crore to boost health infrastructure by 2026

The Union Government has cleared funding of ₹33,081.82 crore for states and union territories to upgrade health facilities under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), the Health Ministry announced. This funding, spread over 2021–22 to 2025–26, is part of a larger effort to strengthen healthcare at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels.

PM-ABHIM, launched in 2021, is a centrally sponsored scheme with some components fully funded by the Centre. The mission has a total budget of ₹64,180 crore and is designed to prepare the country’s health system to face future pandemics and emergencies by expanding public health facilities.
