In a significant push to strengthen India’s medical technology ecosystem, the Centre and industry stakeholders have committed to intensifying efforts to attract investments, boost domestic manufacturing and position India as a global MedTech hub. As part of this initiative Invest India and the Asia Pacific Medical Technology Association (APACMed) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering innovation, investment, localisation and international collaboration in the country’s rapidly expanding medical devices sector. The MoU was signed during a high-level CEO dialogue held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi bringing together senior government officials, policymakers and leaders from the MedTech industry. The event focused on advancing India’s MedTech growth agenda in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 through enhanced public-private collaboration.

Under the partnership, Invest India the country’s national investment promotion and facilitation agency and APACMed will work together to identify investment opportunities, facilitate market entry for global MedTech companies, encourage manufacturing localisation under the Make in India initiative and strengthen strategic partnerships across the healthcare technology value chain.

Discussions during the CEO dialogue centred on three broad themes: advancing India’s MedTech investment agenda through enabling policy support, showcasing the country’s achievements and emerging opportunities in medical technology and leveraging international best practices to enhance India’s global competitiveness in the sector. Industry representatives highlighted the need for a robust innovation ecosystem, greater investment in research, streamlined regulatory pathways and stronger collaboration between government, academia and industry to accelerate indigenous manufacturing and reduce import dependence. The partnership is expected to facilitate knowledge exchange and help global MedTech companies expand their presence in India while supporting domestic manufacturers in accessing international markets.

APACMed, which represents leading medical technology companies across the Asia-Pacific region has identified India as a strategic priority. Its 2026 agenda includes promoting localisation, regulatory harmonisation, value-based healthcare, capability building and investment facilitation to unlock the country’s full MedTech potential.

The latest collaboration aligns with the government’s broader objective of transforming India into a global manufacturing and innovation hub for medical devices by attracting international investment, strengthening supply chains and promoting high-value healthcare technologies. Officials believe that deeper engagement between government and industry will help accelerate the growth of India’s MedTech sector while improving access to advanced, affordable healthcare technologies for patients.
