The Government of India has appointed renowned orthopedic surgeon and Padma Shri awardee Dr. B.K.S. Sanjay as the new President of AIIMS Guwahati. The announcement was made on August 18, as part of the Centre’s effort to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and reduce regional gaps, especially in the northern and northeastern parts of the country.
Dr. Sanjay is a globally acclaimed orthopedic surgeon, academician, and clinical researcher, whose name is listed in both the Guinness World Records and the Limca Book of Records. Over his 45-year-long career, he has trained in India and pursued advanced fellowships in countries such as Sweden, Switzerland, Japan, the USA, and Russia. He has also shared his expertise in more than 50 countries and published widely in reputed medical journals.
According to government his vast experience and achievements will play a crucial role in improving patient care, medical education, and research at AIIMS Guwahati. This move is aligned with the Government’s vision of making AIIMS institutions key pillars of the Viksit Bharat Mission.
