Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has announced that new medical colleges in the state will be established under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model through both greenfield and brownfield projects. The initiative aims to strengthen medical education infrastructure and improve healthcare services across Bihar.

The announcement was made during a review meeting of the Health Department, where the Chief Minister stressed the importance of enhancing healthcare delivery at the grassroots level and reducing unnecessary referrals of patients to higher medical centres.

He directed officials to ensure that quality treatment facilities are available closer to people’s homes and instructed that the new healthcare system be implemented in all district and sub-divisional hospitals by August 15. District Magistrates have been assigned the responsibility of regularly monitoring the progress of the initiative.

Choudhary also asked officials to expedite the completion of medical colleges and hospitals currently under construction. Reaffirming the government’s commitment to healthcare reforms, he said continuous efforts are being made to provide accessible, transparent, and modern healthcare services, particularly in rural areas.

During the meeting, Health Department Secretary Kumar Ravi presented a detailed review of ongoing projects and outlined future plans for strengthening the state’s healthcare system.
