Aster CMI Hospital has launched the Aster Robotic Institute for Spine Excellence (ARISE), a dedicated centre aimed at strengthening robotic-assisted and minimally invasive spine surgery through advanced clinical care, research, innovation, education and professional training. The institute has been established as a comprehensive platform that combines cutting-edge robotic technology, precision-based surgical techniques, multidisciplinary expertise and structured learning programmes to enhance the treatment of complex spinal disorders.

ARISE is designed to promote excellence in robotic spine surgery by integrating modern surgical technology with evidence-based medical practices while also supporting the training of future spine surgeons. The institute brings together neurosurgeons, spine surgeons, anaesthesiologists, rehabilitation specialists and technology experts to provide integrated care for a broad range of spinal conditions, including degenerative diseases, spinal deformities and traumatic injuries.

Dr Ravi Gopal Varma, Director, Aster Global Centre of Excellence in Neurosciences and Lead Consultant – Neurosurgery, Aster CMI Hospital, said robotic technology is transforming spine surgery by improving surgical precision, enhancing patient safety and delivering better clinical outcomes. He said ARISE has been established not only to provide advanced robotic spine care but also to serve as a hub for research, innovation and education, contributing to the growth of neurosciences globally.

Dr Akshay Hari, Consultant – Neurosurgery and Spine Surgery, Aster CMI Hospital, noted that robotic-assisted procedures enable surgeons to plan and perform operations with greater accuracy while supporting minimally invasive techniques. He said these advancements can help reduce blood loss, shorten hospital stays, speed up patient recovery and improve long-term outcomes. According to him, ARISE will help expand the adoption and accessibility of these technologies.

Dr. Prashanth N, CEO, Aster Hospitals, Karnataka, said the hospital continues to invest in advanced technologies and specialised centres that improve patient care. He stated that the launch of ARISE aligns with Aster’s long-term vision of making robotic spine surgery more accessible while reinforcing Bengaluru’s reputation as a leading destination for advanced neurosciences services. He added that the hospital remains focused on delivering patient-centric healthcare through innovation and clinical excellence.

With the establishment of ARISE, Aster CMI Hospital further strengthens its neurosciences capabilities by bringing together experienced specialists, advanced robotic systems, ongoing research initiatives and structured educational programmes. The institute aims to offer more precise, safer and technology-enabled treatment for patients requiring complex spine surgery while supporting the development of future experts in robotic and minimally invasive spine care.
