Artemis Medicare Services Ltd. has announced a major expansion in the National Capital Region (NCR) by entering into a Medical Services Agreement (MSA) with the Vidyasagar Institute of Mental Health and Neuro & Allied Sciences (VIMHANS) to operate and manage a new 650+ bed multi-speciality hospital in Nehru Nagar, South Delhi. The facility will function under the brand name VIMHANS Artemis Hospital, significantly strengthening the company’s presence in one of India’s most competitive healthcare markets.
Under the agreement structure, the land and hospital infrastructure will remain owned by the Dr. Vidya Sagar Kaushalya Devi Memorial Health Centre (VIMHANS), while Artemis will be responsible for delivering all medical services and handling day-to-day clinical and operational management. This asset-light model allows the company to expand capacity without full ownership of physical assets, focusing instead on clinical excellence, technology integration, and operational efficiency.
The upcoming hospital will be built on a 3.5-acre land parcel with a total built-up area of approximately 7 lakh square feet. The project involves a planned capital investment of around ₹500–₹520 crore, to be deployed in phases. Phase 1 is expected to require ₹350–₹360 crore, followed by ₹150–₹160 crore in Phase 2. The investment translates to roughly ₹75–₹80 lakh per bed, reflecting the high capital intensity of tertiary and quaternary care infrastructure in metropolitan areas.
Clinically, the hospital is designed as a next-generation tertiary care facility with advanced Centres of Excellence in key specialities such as neurosciences, cardiac sciences, oncology, organ transplantation, critical care and robotic surgery. It will also integrate specialized mental health services, building on VIMHANS’ legacy in neuro and mental health care. The project aims to address the growing demand for high-quality, technology-enabled healthcare services in the South Delhi catchment area, which has strong potential for high-end medical care utilization.
Beyond healthcare delivery, the project is expected to generate over 2,000 direct jobs, contributing to local employment. In line with social and regulatory obligations, the hospital will also provide free treatment to eligible patients from economically weaker sections (EWS) across both inpatient and outpatient services, improving access to advanced care for underserved populations. Strategically, the South Delhi project forms a key part of Artemis Medicare’s long-term growth plan to expand its total network capacity to over 2,000 beds nationwide. The company’s broader expansion strategy combines infrastructure growth, asset-light partnerships, and technology-led healthcare delivery to build a scalable and future-ready hospital platform in India.
