The Andhra Pradesh government has announced an allocation of ₹20,000 crore to improve healthcare services across the state. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made the announcement at the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan programme.

Naidu said the Sanjeevani pilot project, which uses technology to deliver medical services, has shown encouraging results, with health records created for five crore residents. He added that every citizen will be covered under a Universal Health Card offering insurance worth ₹2.5 lakh, while families living in poverty will receive free medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh through the NDR Vaidya Seva Trust.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, state ministers, and senior officials were present at the event, where a video message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also relayed.

The Chief Minister said the government aims to make healthcare preventive, curative, and affordable, highlighting the role of the Med Tech Park in Visakhapatnam in manufacturing and exporting medical equipment. He also noted that health insurance has been exempted from GST to reduce financial burden on citizens.

Observing Rashtriya Poshan Maah, Naidu emphasized health awareness campaigns focused on breastfeeding and obesity control. He advised moderation in sugar, salt, and oil consumption, citing medical recommendations.

In addition to healthcare measures, Naidu announced a new programme aimed at creating one million millionaires in the state and referred to former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao’s reforms on women’s property rights. He also noted the central government’s plan to provide 33% reservation for women in legislatures.
