The Association of Healthcare Providers of India (AHPI) is preparing to approach the Competition Commission of India (CCI) over alleged collusion by insurance companies in negotiating reimbursement rates with hospitals. Sources told media that AHPI also plans to engage with the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) on matters such as common empanelment, but will wait until newly appointed IRDAI chairperson Seth assumes charge.

To address the ongoing standoff, AHPI is planning a summit on September 13, bringing together insurers, member hospitals, and the regulator to draft a common framework and standard operating procedure (SOP).

In a related move, AHPI has advised its member hospitals to suspend cashless treatment facilities for policyholders of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company from September 1, 2025. The decision, the association said in a press release, follows complaints that the insurer has refused to revise hospital reimbursement rates in line with rising medical costs. Sources added that AHPI may withdraw the advisory if discussions with Bajaj Allianz lead to a resolution. SourceNDTV Profit
