Hyderabad-based Omega Hospitals has entered Chhattisgarh through a strategic partnership with Shree Medishine Hospitals in Raipur, with plans to establish a comprehensive cancer care centre offering advanced oncology services in the state.
The collaboration has led to the launch of Omega Medishine Hospitals in Raipur, bringing together Omega Hospitals‘ expertise in cancer treatment and Shree Medishine Hospitals’ existing multispecialty healthcare infrastructure.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the launch ceremony at Amlidih in New Rajendra Nagar, Raipur, on Sunday and laid the foundation stone for the proposed cancer treatment facility.
Focus on Expanding Cancer Care Services
The proposed Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre will offer integrated oncology services, including medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology and haemato-oncology.
The facility is also planned to provide cancer screening, early detection, molecular diagnostics, nutritional counselling, pain management, palliative care and psychosocial support.
By bringing diagnostic, treatment and supportive services together, the centre aims to improve access to specialised cancer care for patients in Chhattisgarh and neighbouring regions.
Partnership to Strengthen Regional Healthcare Infrastructure
Founded in Hyderabad in 2010 by surgical oncologist Dr. Ch. Mohana Vamsy, Omega Hospitals specialises in cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Its partnership with Shree Medishine Hospitals, an established multispecialty healthcare provider in Raipur, is expected to combine advanced oncology expertise with existing hospital infrastructure.
Omega Hospitals Managing Director Dr. Ch. Mohana Vamsy described the collaboration as part of the hospital group’s expansion strategy to make specialised cancer treatment more accessible across India.
Shree Medishine Hospitals Medical Director Dr. Sushil Sharma also emphasised the importance of integrating advanced medical technology with comprehensive patient care.
Chhattisgarh Government Highlights Healthcare Development Plans
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the state was working to strengthen its healthcare infrastructure and expand access to advanced medical services.
He noted that patients requiring specialised treatment, particularly for cancer, frequently travel to metropolitan cities such as Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi, resulting in additional financial and logistical challenges.
The Chief Minister also referred to the state government’s plans to develop a Medicity and Pharma Park in Nava Raipur as part of its efforts to expand healthcare facilities and related infrastructure.
Raipur MLA Motilal Sahu, Mayor Meenal Choubey, hospital representatives and medical professionals were among those present at the programme.
The partnership marks Omega Hospitals’ entry into Chhattisgarh and is expected to contribute to the development of specialised oncology services in central India once the proposed cancer care facility becomes operational.
