Healthtech company Intuitive is set to launch its latest-generation Da Vinci 5 robotic-assisted surgical system in India, expanding the country’s access to advanced robotic surgery technology.
According to the company, Da Vinci 5 builds on the design of the Da Vinci Xi system and incorporates more than 150 enhancements. The system is the latest addition to Intuitive’s Da Vinci portfolio, which has been used by surgeons in India for more than 200,000 procedures to date.
Rohitt Mahajan, Vice President and General Manager, India, Intuitive, said the focus of robotic surgery is increasingly shifting from technology adoption to using innovation to support better patient outcomes, surgical performance and healthcare delivery.
The Da Vinci 5 features technologies including Force Feedback, enhanced computing capabilities, integrated workflows and connected learning. Intuitive said the platform has 10,000 times more computing power, along with new sensors, software and advanced processors designed to provide surgeons and care teams with additional insights during procedures.
Globally, the latest system has been used by more than 15,000 surgeons, according to Intuitive.
In India, Da Vinci 5 has been cleared for use in surgical procedures across specialties including urology, gynaecology, general surgery, cardiac surgery and thoracic surgery.
